I’ve been a bit silent the latest two weeks , but that’s just because I’m on a well needed vacation.
Here a small update from the big apple and Nathan love with some work done by Swedish Mats Andersson.
World-class animation studio Nathan Love is very proud to detail its collaborations with director Willis Wong, Lunar Films and Hopr in producing two broadcast/web spots for J. Walter Thompson Shanghai and their clients at NetEase. The innovative spots starring celebrity Jay Chou and promoting Fantasy Westward Journey, one of China’s most popular online games, recently debuted in high-profile broadcast and cable outlets across China.

Lovely little short film from Per Nyman. Nice work. Keep it coming, and the rest of you out there, don’t be afraid to tip me and show your work.
In stereoscopic for you with funky glasses.
Breakdown.
Date:
Spring 2010
Software:
Autodesk Maya, Luxology Modo, The Foundry Nuke
Credits:
Per Nyman
Description:
This is an old project I made back in 2009, originally made and rendered in Maya. I decided to make a stereoscopic version of the film. All environment are made in Modo, all animation are exported from Maya to Modo with mdd deformers. The project was then rendered entirely in Modo. Compositing was done in Nuke.
Challenges:
Managing hundreds of separate mdd deformers for all animated objects in the scene.
Getting the grass to render at descent speed, my solution was to use instanced image planes with grass alpha textures mapped to them for the most of the field. Close distance road edge grass was made with fur.

A brand new and very beautiful and inspiring tvc for AT&T from PSYOP. Sit back and enjoy.
AT&T is really leaning on animation these days. Following up on their Rethink Possible spot that featured Gene Wilder’s vocal stylings, we get an undersea adventure that hints at a Whole New World. But this isn’t The Little Mermaid’s world – it’s a darker environment that illustrates how a young fish can expand his boundaries. This CG spot was directed by Eben Mears at Psyop.
