Sweden’s first s3d 3d animated feature in S3d – BEYOND BEYOND  has been selected for The Berlin Film festival. Great job Petter and team!

Danish director Esben Toft Jacobsen – known in these parts for his debut feature The Great Bear – is once again selected as part of the Berlin Film Festival with his sophomore feature Beyond Beyond and we’re pleased to present four clips from the film for your perusal.

Copenhagen Bombay and the team behind Esben Toft Jacobsen’s second feature film Beyond Beyond are happy to announce that the world premiere of the film will take place in Berlinale’s Generation Kplus section, in February 2014.

The story about the little rabbit Johan who sets out on an adventure of his own has been highly anticipated, and has been pre-bought by distributors in several territories. The film will throughout 2014 premiere in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia and South Korea. Also the German FreeTV rights has been acquired by SuperRTL prior to completion.

Beyond Beyond has been produced by Copenhagen Bombay in coproduction with Film i Väst and Noble Entertainment, who will release the film on March 21st as the first Stereoscopic 3D film produced in Sweden. The team has been working on the film since early 2012, and the animation has taken place in Copenhagen Bombay’s own animation studios in Copenhagen and in Stockholm.

Game of phones | Important looking pirates

Some great new updates from Important looking pirates.

Game of phones

We were approached by Claudio and David from ’3′ to create a promo for their latest Game of Phones campaign. Based on the success of the existing campaign they were looking to take the 60s Bond theme forward, creating a more visually graphic film for the web. The objective was to invite people to play theGame of Phones for a chance to be one of 100 unique people to win the new iphone 5 and have it personally delivered to their door.

We had 3 weeks production time from start to finish, which included coming up with a story that was not only informative and interesting but could also be shot in a day. We had over 22 shots to shoot, including a few where we had to change the direction of gravity! Our detailed 3D previs contributed a lot to the smooth running of the shoot. We shot at 100 fps to achieve the cool speed ramps in the film and to get a sharp edge with no motion blur to later create the clean silhouettes. This added up to a whole load of frames to conform, roto and comp!

We worked very collaboratively with the client on the look and feel of the film. Together we tried to come up with a suitable concept that best expressed the speed and endurance it takes to win the Game of Phones. We settled on the idea of a classic ’3′ chase through transitioning environments to illustrate each new challenge. After each win you see the players get thrown deeper and deeper into the ’3′ network until finally some are lucky enough to get through the door to the mastermind ‘Mannen från 3′ and win the new iphone 5.

It was a very creative process from start to finish and we thoroughly enjoyed working with the guys from ’3′. We feel we ended up with a fun piece of work!

So the Swedish Visual Effects Association is live now after it’s first official meeting.

So what is Swedish Visual Effects Association?

Swedish Visual Effects Association invites all ranks of artists, engineers, scientists and management in our field to be a part of our community.
In this we include the artists traditionally belonging to the field of practical effects, recognizing it makes imagery richer when working together.
And for the sake of being future safe we also invite the artists creating 2d-3d visual effects for the stage – an area approaching more and more what we do.
Furthermore, our goals are:
– We aim to enlighten the public what fabulous work are created for the big screen and TV in our country, and what a fantastic fusion of Art and Science our workplace is.
– We want to encourage cooperation between the various vendors of VFX to make our business more resourceful and robust against economic fluctuations.
– We will work to increase exchange between our field and institutions of higher education to further the development of tools in our artists palette.
-We want to tighten the bonds between our members through that of sharing, helping and protecting – and thereby inspire our members to new levels of creativity and expertise.
Welcome!
// The board members.

Thanks everyone who come to the 1st meeting.
